Guinean music continues to gain international recognition as Djelykaba Bintou and Queen Rima have been nominated for the 2026 AfroMada Music Awards, one of Africa’s emerging music award ceremonies. The event is scheduled to take place in Madagascar from October 16 to 18, 2026, bringing together artists from across the continent and the African diaspora.
The AfroMada Music Awards celebrate excellence in African music while promoting the richness of African and Malagasy cultures through music, fashion, and live performances. The annual event provides an international platform for both established and emerging artists.
This year’s edition features 21 award categories, recognising outstanding talent from across Africa.
Djelykaba Bintou has secured a nomination in the prestigious Best Female Artist category. She will compete alongside some of Africa’s most celebrated female performers, including Roseline Layo (Côte d’Ivoire), Denise (Madagascar), Sabrina (Cameroon), Zuchu (Tanzania), Josey (Côte d’Ivoire), Tence Mena (Madagascar), and Emma’a (Gabon).
Meanwhile, Queen Rima has been nominated in the Best Ragga/Reggae – Dancehall/Rap or Drill Artist category. The Guinean dancehall star will compete against a strong lineup featuring Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy (Ghana), Sho Madjozi (South Africa), Basta Lion, Mad Max, Ngiah Tax, and Jam Jued (Madagascar), as well as La Mano 1.9 and Queen Myriana (Côte d’Ivoire).
The nominations highlight the growing influence of Guinean artists on the African music scene and provide another opportunity for the country’s talent to gain international recognition.
Public voting for the AfroMada Music Awards 2026 will take place from August 1 to August 31, 2026, through the event’s official website.
